It is November 19, 1946, post-war Europe. A Dakota with American generals and their wives on board starts from Vienna towards Pisa. Bad weather forces the pilot Ralph Tate to choose the route over the Swiss Alps. Set flight altitude: 3000 meters above sea level. With a lot of luck, some mountain peaks in the Bernese Alps will be flown blind before the plane finally crashes on the Gauligletscher. Miraculously, all passengers survive. ​
