Eleven-year-old refugee Neda (Miriam Stein) is admitted to the hospital. The desperate eyes of the mute girl speak of terrible experiences. Robert (Christian Kohlund), head physician of the clinic, spontaneously decides to take the child home, thereby snubbing not only official authorities and the hospital management, but also his wife Luisa (Mareike Carrière), who has suffered from her childlessness for years.
