When fifteen-year-old Corinna (Miriam Stein) is caught stealing a stuffed animal, a strange man interferes: Banker Martin Holzer (Pascal Ulli), who has just been fired, buys her the stuffed animal. Corinna doesn't care about his help and leaves him. 

The next day Martin pays Corinna a visit and wants to talk to her parents. With all her might Corinna tries to turn him away, but unfortunately Martin makes a terrible discovery: the girl's drug-addicted mother (Bettina Dieterle) is lying dead in her bed. Afraid of being sent back to the orphanage, Corinna goes to school as if nothing is wrong. Out of impulse, Martin promises to help her. He has no idea of the adventure he is about to embark on.
